one time, my cat tangled with another and had a boo-boo on its head .. so we put medicine on it, but he wiped it off during his 'routine' ... so we cut an X into a plastic coffee can lid, and then a small circle to relieve the pressure a bit .. and placed it over his head, like one of those 'cones' ... he was fine with it, and so fashionable too ... and we saved $0.50
